Who is Charlene L. Edge who writes about The Way International?
Who is Charlene L. Edge (me) who writes this blog? For those who want to know, here's a short bio. I include it here because this coming September I will retire my author website.
Charlene Edge's brief bio
Charlene Edge’s most recent book is From the Porch to the Page: A Guidebook for the Writing Life—a delightful multi-genre collection with something for every reader and writer. (New Wings Press, LLC. 2022.)
She is more widely known as the author of the award-winning memoir, Undertow: My Escape from the Fundamentalism and Cult Control of The Way International. (New Wings Press, LLC. 2017). The award is a Gold President's Book Awards medal given by The Florida Authors and Publishers Association in 2017.
Charlene grew up on the Eastern Shore of Maryland in a Roman Catholic family. In 1970 at East Carolina University, students recruited her into The Way International, a Bible-based cult; she gave it the next seventeen years of her life.
After escaping The Way International™ headquarters in New Knoxville, Ohio, in 1987, she earned a BA in English Literature from Rollins College in Florida, graduating summa cum laude in 1994, and worked for more than a decade as a technical writer and proposal writer in the software industry.
She is also a published short-short story writer, an award-winning poet, and a member of the Florida Writers Association, The Authors Guild, and the International Cultic Studies Association. Edge also serves on the FWA Speakers Bureau.
Charlene lives in Florida with her husband, Dr. Hoyt L. Edge, PhD, Professor Emeritus of Philosophy at Rollins College.
On her website, she blogs about their world travels, the writing life, fundamentalism, cults, and whatever catches her imagination. She loves to walk, swim, and read as many books as she can (with a bowl of popcorn beside her).
Both of her books are available at major booksellers in eBook and paperback. Indie bookstores and libraries often have copies, too.

Thanks for reading!
